The OASC Conference 2026 is the flagship annual event of the Open & Agile Smart Cities & Communities (OASC) network — a growing community of over 180 cities and regions across more than 35 countries, committed to building more open, interoperable and human-centric digital solutions for urban development.
Join us on 9 January, 15:30–16:15, at the Sala Panoramica (main stage) of Hotel Alambique in Fundão, Portugal, for a forward-looking session titled “Cross-sector data spaces for the smart communities of tomorrow.” This session brings together pioneering cities and pilot initiatives that are already building Europe’s very first local smart city data spaces—the foundation of a future European data space for smart communities.
Moderated by Sophie Meszaros from Open & Agile Smart Cities, the session will showcase real-world use cases from Diogo Silva and Olli-Pekka Mattila (Pilot Traffic Flow Data Space), Mieke van Schaik (Pilot CitizenCity), Antonio Jara (Pilot Geo4Water), and Peter Benedek (Pilot Szeged and Timișoara Data Space). From urban planning and water crisis management to tackling urban heat islands, speakers will explore how cross-sector data sharing is already delivering impact—while openly addressing the business, legal, organisational, and technical challenges along the way.
