The European Data Space for Smart Communities opens its 4th Round of Call for Pilots
Following the success of the first three rounds, the 4th Call for pilots of the European Data Space for Smart Communities (DS4SSCC) is now open! From sustainable mobility to positive energy districts, mitigation of urban heat islands, and more, local communities across Europe have already been driving forward impactful data-driven solutions, built on multi-stakeholder collaboration and data sharing. Now there’s a new opportunity open for those ready to join and build what’s next.
The call aims to onboard approximately 10 pilots to develop actual services based on data sharing among data space participants, demonstrate the applicability of the DS4SSCC blueprint and demonstrate feasibility of a federated European data space for smart communities.
During this round, pilots are recommended to deploy existing data space components and cooperation models, build on successful use cases in your local context, and/or open up network effects by connecting to existing data spaces to gain value from existing data products and/or services.
Learn more about the data space building blocks through the updated DS4SSCC blueprint, get inspired by exploring the ongoing 11 pilots and their use cases, and get familiar with the conditions of this call.
The application is open from 1 April to 31 May 2026.
Applicants are invited to attend one or both of the information sessions to learn more about the objectives, eligibility criteria, and application process. In addition, both sessions will include a matchmaking session allowing you to express your interests and find new partners.
