UrbanHive
Basic Pilot Info:
Title: UrbanHive
Involved Cities: Ajdovščina, Kranj, Celje, Tržič (Slovenia) and Pula (Croatia)
Consortium members: Municipality of Ajdovščina, City of Pula, City of Kranj, City of Celje, Municipality of Tržič, Riko, 3fs, Integralis
Duration: 01 August 2026 – 31 October 2026 (3 months)
Domains: 1) Predictive traffic management/sustainable mobility planning. 2) Data-services related to weather, climate and extreme weather events. 3) Zero pollution actions
Motivation:
The core idea of the UrbanHive project is to expand the existing emerging data space, create new value, streamline replication, and validate federation with European data spaces:
Streamline and validate UrbanMind replication mechanisms.
Expand the data space with high-value external data sources.
Create new value from existing technical and business building blocks with department- and citizen-facing services on top of the data space.
Adoption of SIMPL Connector.
Federation with STiDS (Szeged & Timișoara Data Space).
Use Case Description:
UrbanHive builds directly on UrbanMind, an operational DS4SSCC pilot and an emerging data space delivered by the City of Kranj, the City of Pula, 3fs and Riko. UrbanMind was selected in the first DS4SSCC Call for Pilots and is therefore among the most technically mature data space solutions in the ecosystem. To align with the Call 4 schedule and deliver the activities within the 3-month implementation window, the consortium is reinforced with Integralis, an additional technology SME bringing expertise in systems integration, data interoperability, and engineering, and three new piloting organisations (Municipality of Ajdovščina, Municipality of Tržič, and City of Celje) for replication validation.
UrbanMind connects traffic, environmental and IoT data from Kranj and Pula into a DS4SSCC-compliant data space running two applications: a) Predictive Traffic Management (forecasting traffic flows and supporting infrastructure and mobility decisions), and b) Micro-location Environmental Analytics (mapping air quality via sensors on public buses).
