On 27 May 2025, DS4SSCC proudly joined the high-level session "From Data to Impact in Green Deal Data Spaces (GDDS)" during Data Week 2025. The session brought together leading voices from across Europe to explore how environmental and smart community data are being leveraged to support Europe’s green and digital transitions.
🌟 Spotlight on Our Partner: IDC
We were especially proud to be represented by Nuria de Lama, Consulting Director at IDC and a key partner in the DS4SSCC initiative. In her insightful presentation, “Data-Driven Innovation in the European Data Space for Smart Communities contributing to the Green Deal”, Nuria outlined the technical foundation, target stakeholders, and real-world pilots driving forward our vision of sustainable, interoperable, and citizen-centric data ecosystems. Her intervention illustrated how smart community data is already unlocking innovation at the local level across Europe—helping cities become more adaptive, efficient, and green.

Richard Stevens (IDC) – Presented the SAGE project and its role in building a fully interoperable GDDS.
Valeria Catalano (EUSPA) – Shared insights on leveraging EU Space data for smart cities.
Dr. Vasileios Baousis (ECMWF) – Highlighted key environmental datasets from Copernicus and DestinE.
Nuria de Lama (IDC) - talked about data-driven innovation in the European Data Space for smart communities and showcased the technical approach, target audience, and key pilots that contribute to the development of the European Data Space for Smart Communities.
Ioannis Chrysakis (Netcompany-Intrasoft) & Gerasimos Antzoulatos (CERTH) – Explored semantic technologies for secure and interoperable data sharing.
Nikos Mellios (UTH) – Showcased the ENFORCE project and its citizen science tools.
Linda Kleemann (GFA Consulting Group) – Discussed the power of AI in transforming unstructured data into actionable climate insights.
The session concluded with a forward-looking panel discussion on how to transform data readiness into real-world impact. Key themes included the need for viable business models, strong stakeholder engagement, and continued technological innovation to ensure the success and sustainability of Green Deal Data Spaces.
